Welcome to Israeli Dancing of Ann Arbor! Who are
we? We are a group of
Israeli dance lovers from Ann Arbor, West Bloomfield and the greater
Detroit area. We meet every Thursday evening at 7:30 PM for two and a half
hours of fun, music and dance.
The dancers’ ages vary between 8 and 88. Among the dancers are
students, professors, locals, and visitors from all over the world. We
welcome beginners, intermediate and advanced dancers of all
ages! Where do we
dance? In the gym of the Ann
Arbor JCC 2935
Birch Hollow Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48108 When? Every Thursday at
7:30 PM
What? Our schedule and play
list varies every week, and it changes throughout the evening. We dance a
mixture of old and new, slow and fast, circle and line dances. We bring to
our sessions the latest dances taught in Israel and the USA.
7:30 – 8:00 PM
Easy slow dances that
most beginners can do without a lot of instruction. New beginners are
always welcome to join. 8:00 - 8:30
PM 1 or 2 easier dances
will be taught or reviewed. 8:30 - 10:00 PM
Usually 1 or 2
intermediate/advanced dances are taught or reviewed. Dances are usually
taught one week and reviewed the following weeks. In addition, we are open
for requests throughout the evening. Who runs the
show? This is the unique
character of our group: It belongs to everyone! This is a community
effort, and all the participants are volunteers who do it for fun. Amnon
is the DJ, but the floor is open for requests. Cheryl is the dance
instructor, but everyone is welcome to suggest any new dance and teach
it! |
